Responsibilities

  • Inspect and set up welding equipment for proper and safe use.
  • Read and understand shop drawings, weld symbols and WPSs.
  • Understand the requirements of the pertinent AWS welding code.
  • Properly and safely handle work pieces using overhead crane equipment.
  • Properly fixture work pieces on welding positioners to effectively weld in the proper position.
  • Preheat and measure material temperature in preparation for production welding.
  • Perform high quality welding using MCAW, FCAW, and GTAW processes.
  • Monitor and control inter-pass material temperature during production welding.
  • Clean and contour welds using hand and portable power tools.
  • Effectively use distortion control techniques.
  • Inspect in-process and completed welds for compliance with requirements prior to presentation for quality control inspection.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of MIG welding experience
  • 0–2 years’ experience in fabrication shop environment
  • 0–2 years’ experience reading blueprints
  • D1.5 knowledge preferred
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal/communication skills required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment

Work Environment

Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals. Employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at the location.

Pay

The approximate pay range for this position is $22–$26/hour. Please note that the pay range is a good faith estimate at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location.
