ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist welders with setup, material preparation, and workpiece alignment.
- Move, lift, and hold parts in place for welding or fitting operations.
- Clean and prepare metal surfaces using grinders, wire wheels, and other tools.
- Perform basic cutting, deburring, and material handling tasks.
- Keep tools, welding equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
- Retrieve materials, consumables, and tools needed for ongoing jobs.
- Absorb components before welding.
- Help maintain a safe working environment.
- Support general shop tasks such as sweeping, organizing, and staging materials for upcoming jobs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by welders or supervisors
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- HS Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Prior shop / fabrication experience preferred.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, grinders, and shop equipment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely around welding operations.
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs. and working on feet for long periods of time.
- Willingness to learn welding and fitting skills.
