Accountabilities
- Operate and set up MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding equipment to join and fabricate steel and aluminum components.
- Perform accurate weld inspection, identify nonconforming parts, ensure welds meet Dee Zee and customer weld acceptance criteria and rework if applicable.
- Support Dee Zee environmental policies with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste and acting on environment performance results and findings.
- Check and adjust machine settings to ensure that the part is fabricated correctly according to specifications.
- Ensure welder is in proper working condition.
- Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
- Fabricate items as instructed by drawings and work instructions.
- Follow First Off Procedure (specification, place jig, check dimensions and check first product).
- Maintain trainee level BOM standard cycle times while maintaining quality parts in all welding processes.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S procedures, rules and regulations and taking proper care of all equipment and facilities.
Qualifications
- 1+ year MIG and TIG welding preferred.
- Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconforming products to our customers.
- Effectively work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Ability to operate small grinding equipment (right angle grinder, pencil grinder, belt sander, etc.).
- Ability to provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements.
- Ability to read and understand written work instructions.
- Ability to recognize when a weld meets Dee Zee and customer acceptance criteria.
- Ability to use measuring equipment (calipers, tape measures, and angle gauges).
- High School Graduate or GED required; Associate level degree or welding certification degree preferred.
