Welder (3rd shift)

Responsibilities

• Weld structural steel in all positions.
• Weld stainless steel, carbon steel, and other alloys as required.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure them using straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Operate and maintain machines that fabricate and repair metal structures, equipment, and machinery.
• Obtain and maintain welding certifications, including SMAW plate, SMAW Pipe, and GTAW Pipe.
• Perform welding processes aboard vessels and in shops.
• Interpret and understand NAVSEA drawings/blueprints and welding symbols based on Military Standard 22-D.
• Work with Military Standard 1689, DM 10-623B, and the CG-47 Crack Repair Manual.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of related welding experience.
• Ability to pass a hands-on welding practical test on SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P (5XXX Aluminum) by way of x-ray NDT. The test includes full penetration butt weld test plates in overhead (4G), vertical (3G), and horizontal (2G) positions.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Calculate and understand units of measure, including fractions and decimals.
• Accurately use a tape measure for measurements.
• Obtain DBIDS credential/Government clearance to enter U.S. Navy Vessels.

Physical Requirements

• Able to wear appropriate protective equipment, including a respirator.
• Able to perform essential job duties with or without accommodations.
• Able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes and grades.
• Able to carry a personal tool bag weighing up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Skills

• Highly skilled and experienced in 5XXX aluminum welding process, including Process Control Procedure (PCP) work.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $61,360 - $93,662. Individual salaries are determined by factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
