About the Role
Join American Hydro as a Welder, where you will fabricate, join, and repair metal and other materials using various welding techniques and high-heat machinery. You will assemble or repair hydro components, set up components for welding according to specifications, and ensure high-quality craftsmanship in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
Responsibilities
- Weld complex geometries, fillets, and related hydro components using SMAW and FCAW processes.
- Set up jobs and equipment efficiently to optimize workflow.
- Perform carbon arc gouging and complete joint penetration (CJP) welds.
- Grind parts as needed per drawing and verbal instruction.
- Operate gas cutting and air arc gouging processes for all but the most challenging applications.
- Weld using larger wire sizes in various situations.
- Maintain clean and orderly equipment and work areas.
- Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding work piece issues, schedule changes, or safety concerns.
- Operate jib cranes and forklifts to position weldments.
- Set up rolls, positioners, and assemble simple, smaller weldments.
- Demonstrate proficiency in blueprint reading (excluding geometric tolerancing).
- Set welding parameters to optimize process operation and produce high-quality welds.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three (3) years minimum of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fully proficient with Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
- Ability to set welding parameters for optimal operation.
- Experience with gas cutting, air arc gouging, and operating jib cranes and forklifts.
- Strong attention to quality, productivity, job knowledge, initiative, safety, attendance, dependability, communication, and cooperation.
Schedule
3rd shift: 10:30 PM – 6:30 AM
Pay
Competitive hourly rate of $24–$36 based on experience, plus a $2/hour shift differential.
