Weld Technician - Services Technology Acceleration Center

GE Aerospace’s Services Technology Acceleration Center (STAC) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welding Technician to join our aerospace manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience with welding systems and a background in aerospace welding standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate traditional welding equipment, and use fixtures, tools and gauges to produce aerospace parts meeting engine manual tolerances.
  • Follow detailed work instructions and practice weld procedures per GE and Nadcap/AWS specifications.
  • Operate laser systems to perform welding tasks on aerospace components.
  • Set up laser machines according to engineering specifications and production schedules.
  • Adjust machine settings to optimize performance and ensure compliance with technical requirements.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of cleaning agents, solvents, consumables, and spare parts.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of materials and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all operation, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to minimize hazards and risks in the MRO shop.
  • Follow technical plans, work from complex product drawings, manuals, specifications, and other company/customer specifications to meet desired manufacturing objectives.
  • Oversee and coordinate equipment calibrations.
  • Evaluate equipment calibrations for compliance to standards and specifications.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Follow all STAC safety, health, waste, and chemical regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution in a technical field, or completion of a relevant apprenticeship program.
  • Certified Welder (CW) and/or Certified Laser Welding Technician (CLWT) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating Laserdyne or similar laser systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Previous experience in the aerospace industry is desirable.
  • Fluent in basic English.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.

  • Strong understanding of welding and laser technology.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry.
