Weld Technician

General Summary

This position is responsible for technical, mechanical, pneumatic and electrical support, troubleshooting and repair of all Plant welding and assembly equipment.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

• Installing, repairing, servicing machinery and equipment support systems
• Identifying and trouble-shooting production problems
• Maintaining production lines and performing predictive and preventive maintenance
• Supporting daily production addressing downtime expediently resetting faults replacing Sensors, Cords, Caps, shunts, etc.
• In a timely manner, ensuring all automatic nut/stud feeders are stocked verifying correct Part # and free of debris before filling machine
• Assuring all Sealer/Adhesive is working properly, purged as required and replaced when needed
• Complying with Good Manufacturing Practices along with all Safety Policies and Procedures
• Complying with all Quality System procedures, assure Red Rabbits are ran and recorded each shift, properly communicate any abnormal event if required to appropriate personnel
• Demonstrate good attendance with the ability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays
• Ability to understand, record, and communicate system problems and solutions
• Demonstrate good problem solving skills
• Able to understand and troubleshoot basic electrical components and schematics
• Can troubleshoot, repair, and install hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems
• Can troubleshoot, repair and program resistance and MIG welding equipment
• Perform basic machining
• Perform required Preventive Maintenance checks & related data assuring any related documentation is filled out properly
• Complete required logs and repair documentation assuring is legible and accurate
• Knowledge of safety lockout
• Work independently
• Execute all job responsibilities in accordance with Quality System requirements

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities / Education & Experience

• Must be able to work in environment with welding fumes from robots
• Industrial equipment electrical troubleshooting and installation
• A sound understanding of welding fundamentals and theory
• Robot programming and troubleshooting of the following equipment: FANUC and/or ABB, MOTOMAN, NACHI, KUKA
• Must demonstrate good problem solving skills
• Able to understand and troubleshoot basic electrical components and schematics
• Can troubleshoot, repair, and install hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems
• Can troubleshoot, repair and program resistance and MIG welding equipment
• Perform basic machining
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs., twist, bend, squat, climb, stand and walk continuously in close, confined surroundings
• Related Work Experience – Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing welding maintenance
• Minimum Education – H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be able to work mandatory OT as required 6-7 days per week
