Job Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets complex blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute welding operations.
- Sets up, operates, and maintains welding equipment to produce high-quality fabricated components.
- Prepares materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, and fitting components.
- Inspects completed welds visually and using testing methods to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Troubleshoots and repairs welds independently.
- Maintains welding equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine maintenance and repairs.
- Follows all safety regulations and wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Operates machinery including welding robots, saws, and grinders.
- Provides mentorship and training to junior welders.
Job Skills
- Advanced proficiency in multiple welding processes such as GMAW and GTAW.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes, standards, and safety practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to the highest quality workmanship.
- Physical stamina to work in various positions for extended periods.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Requirements
- Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Experience Requirements: 5 years of professional welding experience, with demonstrated expertise in a wide range of welding techniques and processes. Welding certifications or completion of a recognized welding program preferred.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Some physical demand; often lifts light to heavy-weight material.
- Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
- May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
