Job Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, specifications and work instructions to plan welding operations.
  • Sets up and operates welding equipment to produce fabricated components.
  • Prepares materials for welding by cleaning surfaces, grinding, and fitting components.
  • Inspects completed welds visually and using testing methods to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs welds as needed.
  • Maintains welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Follows all safety regulations and wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • May operate machinery including welding robots, saws, and grinders.

Job Skills

  • Proficiency in multiple welding processes such as GMAW and GTAW.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of welding codes, standards, and safety practices.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Physical stamina to work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Some physical demand; often lifts light to heavy-weight material.
  • Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
  • May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
