Weld Inspector - Quality Control

Central Moloney is an ISO 9001-certified company that builds transformers to power communities. The Quality Weld Inspector role ensures the safety and quality of every transformer built.

Responsibilities

• Inspect transformer tanks for weld lines, defects, and non-conformities
• Correct identified issues such as spattering weld leaks, porosity, undercut, cracking, slag inclusions, and improper weld profiles
• Perform visual weld inspections during and after the welding process
• Verify welds meet specifications and dimensional requirements using measuring tools
• Document inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions
• Communicate findings to production teams and recommend corrective actions
• Support root cause analysis on weld defects and recurring quality issues
• Conduct audits of welding processes to ensure adherence to CMI quality standards
• Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment
• Other quality-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in a weld inspection or manufacturing quality role preferred
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with documentation systems and Microsoft Office
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify weld defects by visual inspection
• Good verbal and written communication skills to relay findings clearly to production teams
• Solid math and problem-solving skills
• AWS CWI certification a plus but not required

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Lifting: Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
• Environment: Work in a facility with loud noise, extreme temperatures, and environmental stressors
• Physical Activities: Sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, crouch, reach, and grasp as needed
• PPE: Wear required PPE, including eye and hearing protection, gloves, and safety toe footwear
• Dexterity and Vision: Manual dexterity and specific vision abilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment)
• Stamina: Stand for long shifts
