Weekend Weather/Multimedia Journalist, KTNV

KTNV, The E.W. Scripps ABC affiliate in Las Vegas, Nevada, is seeking a weekend Meteorologist/Weather Anchor who will also serve as a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) 3 days a week and create content for multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

• Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
• Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research.
• Organize material, determine slant or emphasis, and write stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
• Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
• Edit or assist in editing videos for all multimedia platforms.
• Appear on television for taped interviews or narration.
• Provide live reports from event sites or mobile broadcast units.
• Work cooperatively with assigned photographers.
• Assist news producers in preparing newscasts.
• Support online staff in preparing multimedia stories.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred.
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in a related field preferred.

Skills

• Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems.
• Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment.
• Ability to edit video using Final Cut Pro or similar systems.
• Strong broadcast and AP-style writing skills.
• Proficient at posting content to various websites.
• Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of insurance with required company limits.
