Job Responsibilities
- Captures material movement between departments according to routing requirements.
- Sorts questionable materials in accordance with Quality Control’s directives.
- Prints and distributes pick tickets and conducts necessary computer transactions.
- Organizes and relays information regarding the sequence of material retrieval and its movement.
- Affirms production schedules by ensuring timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
- Assists during peak times by operating material handling equipment and performing computer transactions.
- Maintains effective communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and across shifts.
- Supports supervisors/Area Managers with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluations of new equipment, determination of training needs, and interviews/hiring.
- Maintains shop floor control systems and enforces safety protocols.
- Wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows all safety procedures.
- Identifies and corrects unsafe conditions proactively.
- Studies systems and procedures for potential improvements and proposes changes to the Materials Manager.
Job Skills
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic math and computer skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred.
- Forklift certification is advantageous.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Some physical demands, often requiring the lifting and moving of light to heavy-weight material (average up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs).
- Frequent lifting/moving of material.
- Occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and reaching over an 8-12 hour work shift.
- Ability to operate motorized vehicles over an 8-12 hour work shift.
- Standing and walking constantly over an 8-12 hour work shift on concrete surfaces.
- May be exposed to noise levels requiring hearing protection over an 8-12 hour work shift.
