About the role

Lebanon Equine Clinic has served the equestrian community of Warren County and surrounding areas for over 65 years, growing into one of the largest equine-exclusive practices in the region. The clinic offers advanced diagnostics including digital radiography, ultrasound, and endoscopy, as well as progressive therapies such as regenerative medicine and biologics. Located in Lebanon, Ohio — just outside Cincinnati — the practice provides a small‑town atmosphere with easy access to city amenities, a lower cost of living, and a strong equestrian‑friendly community. As part of Community Veterinary Partners (CVP), clinicians benefit from a network of 600+ doctors across 140+ hospitals in 18 states, comprehensive mental‑health support, clinical autonomy, and structured growth and mentorship programs.

Responsibilities

  • Triage emergency cases by phone and determine whether a farm visit is required.
  • Respond to field emergencies during on‑call periods, providing assessment, stabilization, and treatment.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with owners during stressful situations.
  • Stabilize patients and decide when referral to a specialty facility (e.g., The Ohio State University or Rood & Riddle) is appropriate.
  • Manage an ambulatory emergency caseload, handling the unpredictability of after‑hours calls.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and follow up on cases as needed.

Requirements

  • Comfort practicing equine emergency medicine independently.
  • Ability to assess and triage emergency cases quickly and accurately.
  • Confident clinical decision‑making in the field without immediate technician support.
  • Skill in stabilizing patients and determining the appropriate next step, including referral.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with owners under pressure.
  • Capability to manage an ambulatory emergency workload and adapt to variable case volumes.

Benefits

  • Tailored sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance.
  • No negative accrual – you never owe money back if production fluctuates.
  • Generous PTO plus paid parental leave.
  • Yearly continuing education funds and paid time off specifically for CE.
  • Clinic covers fees for state licenses, DEA, AVMA PLIT, etc.
  • 401(k) match and equity opportunities for long‑term wealth building.
  • Pet care discounts for your own animals.
  • Team recognition programs (shout‑outs, bonus rewards, etc.).
  • Access to CVP’s expansive network, mental‑health support platform (Journey), and clinical autonomy.
  • Opportunities for growth, mentorship, and leadership development.

Pay

Competitive base salary combined with monthly production compensation. The structure includes no negative accrual, offering true unlimited earning potential. A tailored sign‑on bonus is also provided.

Schedule

On‑call coverage runs approximately 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM, with the highest demand on weekends. The weekend schedule is structured as Friday evening through Monday morning, with flexibility to divide that block to create a sustainable schedule. Additional coverage may be available for select weeknights, holidays, or extended PTO needs. While on call, you remain at home and respond only when an emergency requires an ambulatory visit; emergency volume varies, and not every call results in a farm visit.
