About the Role

The Outbound Material Handler ensures all orders are picked, consolidated, packed, and shipped accurately and on time to maintain smooth outbound operations. This position involves using internal warehouse systems and equipment, including Powered Industrial Trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve items from racking accurately and efficiently using handheld scanning devices and ERP system, on foot or with forklift equipment.
  • Sort and consolidate picked items using handheld scanning devices to prepare customer orders for shipment.
  • Pack products accurately and securely using the internal SPS system, focusing on delivering an excellent customer experience.
  • Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, computers) while following safety protocols.
  • Meet performance standards for efficiency, accuracy, and quality of work.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by adhering to safety guidelines and reporting hazards.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly departmental goals.
  • Adhere to all company and warehouse policies.
  • Flex into other positions or departments and take on additional duties to support overall operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Work performed while standing and/or walking, up to 12 hours per day.
  • Effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant experience in a distribution environment preferred but not required.
  • No degree required; relevant skills, experience, and alignment with core values are prioritized.

Skills

  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and order pickers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability to changing business needs with diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a focus on exceeding expectations.

Working Environment

The role involves occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, temperature/humidity changes, dust, fumes, and gases. The noise level is typically quiet to moderate, with average employee traffic in the work area.
