Weekend Maintenance Supervisor
About the role
Maintains and repairs machinery and equipment, and fabricates metal parts and tools.
Directs workers in diagnosing malfunctions and in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
Requisitions and manages supplies of spare parts, modifies robot programming, and interprets production schedules.
Interprets company policies, enforces safety regulations, assigns tasks, establishes work procedures, and analyzes work problems.
Suggests improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, and motivates workers to achieve goals.
Maintains time and production records, coordinates activities among departments, and performs tasks typically assigned to workers in the supervised group.
Responsibilities
- Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
- Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts.
- Modifies programming of robots and related equipment such as robot controllers and programmable controllers.
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Performs activities of workers supervised.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates or Technical School Degree or combination of work/education preferred.
At least five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance with progressive responsibilities. Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
Considerable knowledge of standard methods, principles, practices, tools, and equipment of the maintenance trades.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to interact and communicate at all levels of organization.
Considerable knowledge of electric motors, generators, pumps, pressure systems, water system, HVAC and other equipment and systems of the maintenance trades.
Considerable knowledge of the principles of mechanical equipment design and fabrication.
Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
Considerable knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations and industry safety standards.
Knowledge of employment laws.
