Responsibilities
- Laser Welding & Hermetic Sealing: Perform precision laser welding to create hermetic seals on components, ensuring all seals meet strict vacuum and leak-rate specifications.
- Environmental Stress Testing: Execute environmental stress screening (ESS), including thermal cycling and vibration testing, to validate the integrity of the seals and the durability of the components.
- Precision De-lidding: Perform machine de-lidding operations to access internal components for inspection, rework, or failure analysis without damaging the substrate.
- Process Adherence: Strictly follow written process instructions, engineering drawings, and quality checklists to ensure consistency and compliance with aerospace and defense standards.
- Equipment Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate laser welding stations and environmental test chambers; perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on machinery.
- Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections and utilize measurement tools to verify weld quality and seal integrity, documenting all results in the manufacturing execution system.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment, preferably involving laser welding, electronics assembly, or semiconductor packaging.
- Proven ability to operate laser equipment and environmental test chambers.
- Adaptability: Ability to maintain high quality and accuracy while working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Skills
- Knowledgeable of process related standards, MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534, and MIL-DTL-5541.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems.
- Knowledge of Paperless, or equivalent Manufacturing Enterprise Software (MES).
- Lean Knowledge (single piece vs batch processing) preferred.
- Six Sigma training or projects preferred.
- Familiarity with leak detection equipment (e.g., helium leak detectors) is highly preferred.
- Certification in laser safety or specialized welding techniques.
- Prior experience with cleanroom protocols and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) prevention.
- Experienced in AutoCAD and/or 3D modelling.
- A self-starter with the ability to think analytically and work with limited direction.
- CNC Machining, troubleshooting G-Code
