Weekend Hospice Nurse - Registered Nurse

About the role

Brighton/Suncrest Hospice is seeking a Weekend Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care and services for a group of hospice patients, visiting patients where they reside—including private homes, assisted living facilities, and hospitals. The Weekend RN will complete hospice admissions and patient visits as needed, answer calls from patients, families, and customers, and make nursing visits for symptom management, deaths, and admissions. This role requires a passion for hospice care and a commitment to advocating for both hospice services and Suncrest Hospice.

Schedule

Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Great opportunity for additional shifts and supplemental income.

Pay

$36–$39 per hour, DOE.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and services for a group of hospice patients
• Complete hospice admissions and patient visits as needed
• Answer calls from patients, families, and customers
• Make nursing visits for symptom management, deaths, and admissions
• Collaborate daily with nurses, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and CNA leadership within a team environment
• Work closely with patients on a 1-on-1 level with strong support from a patient care team
• Work independently on a day-to-day basis with activities including phone, email, written communication, and meetings with healthcare professionals
• Manage time effectively to schedule visits, attend required meetings, and respond to urgent needs by prioritizing and triaging multiple concerns
• Learn and utilize the electronic medical records system
• Travel across the service area to visit patients

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (in good standing) in the state(s) of practice
• One year of experience under license
• Admissions and On-call experience preferred
• Great clinical and communication skills
• Ability to work well within a team environment
• Ability to work independently
• Understanding of hospice rules and regulations
• Time management skills
• Willingness to drive with reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and auto insurance to travel across the service area
