Job Summary
The Guided Personal Support (GPS) Program is part of the Enhanced Family Support for Adults initiative from the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Autism Coaches support individuals to meet their personal goals by providing individualized supports, teaching specific skills and behaviors, communicating regularly with the supervisor, completing necessary paperwork, and transporting clients to goal-related community activities.
Major Responsibilities
- Foster community inclusion and independence for clients.
- Teach specific skills and behaviors, such as executive functioning skills, appropriate relational boundaries, in accordance with the individual’s plan.
- Communicate regularly with the supervisor about progress, challenges, and goals.
- Complete and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner and according to program and agency policies.
- Use personal vehicle (when applicable) to transport clients to goal-related community activities.
- Provide mandated reporting consistent with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 119, Sections 51A-51G.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human services or other related field required.
- Master's in relevant field preferred.
- Minimum 1 year working with an individual with disabilities.
- Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal skills and team-building skills.
- Comfortable working in a home or community-based environment.
- Ability to transport clients using a personal vehicle.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to stand for 80% of the day.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
