About the Role
The Web Manager will oversee the strategic development, content generation, and implementation of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) website and subsites. This role focuses on elevating brand visibility, upholding message discipline, and supporting institutional growth through collaboration with academic, research, hospital, and administrative departments. The Web Manager will create, publish, and optimize content, ensure editorial maintenance, and work with internal and external partners on analytics, ADA compliance, and technical solutions. The position reports to the Assistant Dean of Strategic Communications.
Responsibilities
- Optimize and upload text, images, audio-visual content, captions, and photo credits.
- Establish procedures for reviewing, updating, maintaining, and archiving content.
- Ensure content consistency across the website and test changes across all browsers.
- Lead and manage website analytics, reviewing processes to assess and improve performance.
- Propose improvements and enhancements for content accuracy and optimal use of WordPress CMS.
- Support stakeholders in determining optimal WordPress formats for project goals.
- Conduct periodic accessibility testing and collaborate with IT on website integrity and upgrades.
- Test and implement development and upgrade requirements.
- Organize backend content modules, lists, categories, and internal tagging with logical structure.
- Perform ongoing audits of module integration and implement consistent metadata for SEO.
- Manage and execute requests for new or updated web content within communications workflows.
- Prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines and provide accurate timeline estimates.
- Oversee contracted web support for software updates and new development projects.
- Coordinate annual or semi-annual reviews of web content with academic, research, hospital, and administrative sections.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with training or experience in web technology and proven work in a web services environment.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience with Content Management Systems (CMS), preferably WordPress.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and browser-based user interfaces.
- Experience in an academic and/or hospital environment is ideal.
- Capability in developing information architecture and content strategy.
- Experience with multimedia on a CMS platform, CSS, HTML, and cross-platform data compatibility.
- Strong understanding of SEO, accessibility, and usability standards, and familiarity with Google Analytics.

Pay
$71,733.00 - $75,000.00 annual salary, based on qualifications, experience, skills, and education.
