Web Design & UX Specialist
About the role
The Web Design/UX Specialist owns Medora’s online presence from aesthetic design, user functionality, and content to create intuitive, high-converting digital experiences. This role owns the entire user journey on our websites and third-party partners—from audience research to AI/GEO/SEO optimization, and final visual layout and front-end optimization—ensuring that websites are visually engaging, mobile-responsive, and accessible. By leveraging user analytics and behavioral data, they continuously optimize landing pages and site architecture to reduce friction, enhance brand strategy, boost visibility, and drive measurable conversions.
Responsibilities
- Design, evaluate, and refine responsive websites and digital experiences that enhance user engagement across desktop and mobile platforms
- Develop the website content strategy. Write, edit, publish, and maintain the website content to support organizational goals, customer needs, and SEO/GEO search visibility
- Work cross-departmentally to review content and user journeys across digital platforms
- Apply UX and interaction design principles to improve usability, accessibility, navigation, and conversion paths, using independent judgment to recommend effective design solutions
- Create or coordinate motion graphics and animations, when appropriate, to enrich website content and digital campaigns
- Publish new website content, update and maintain existing pages, manage site navigation, and ensure all web content remains accurate, current, and aligned with organizational standards and user experience best practices
- Partner with IT Department to proactively maintain hosting, domain ownership, cyber-security, privacy policies, title VI, 501c3 disclosures, integrations, and advanced technical issues
- Manage and maintain third-party platforms, including ORM, directory listings, and tourism/travel sites, and identify new platform opportunities to enhance online presence
- Analyze web analytics data using Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics to identify performance trends, recommend improvements, reduce friction, and improve engagement and conversions
- Coordinate with external vendors to support ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements to mobile app
- Stay current with industry trends in UX, digital design, web development, accessibility, SEO/GEO, and emerging web technologies
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups using tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, or InVision to visualize and test design concepts
- Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the general nature and level of responsibility of the position
Requirements
- Proven experience in web design with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in visual UI/UX design, responsive web design, and interaction design
- Proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and related Adobe Creative Suite tools
- Working knowledge of front-end development languages such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP, with familiarity with frameworks such as Bootstrap or Angular
- Familiarity with content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal for website management and maintenance
- Experience designing for mobile devices with an understanding of mobile-first approaches
- Strong understanding of usability principles, web accessibility standards, including WCAG, and information architecture
- Ability to use Google Analytics 360, Adobe Analytics, or similar tools to evaluate website performance metrics
- Knowledge of web production workflows, including version control systems such as Git and related web analytics tools
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- 3+ years of professional UX/UI or web design experience, with preferred experience in hospitality, travel, tourism, or reservation-heavy e-commerce; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A strong online portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design processes, from research and discovery through final visual design
- Proficiency with standard industry design and prototyping software such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Illustrator, or InVision
Work Environment
This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, including a computer, phone, and related technology. Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required based on seasonal business needs, particularly from April through October.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Frequently communicates with others, uses hands and fingers to operate a computer and standard office equipment, and requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Standard office hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, this position may require additional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on seasonal business needs and project deadlines.
