About the role

The Watkinson Special Collections Library at Trinity seeks intellectually passionate Trinity students to help explore and promote its Caribbean and Latin American collections. Fellows will first organize and promote existing materials, then develop creative projects that highlight the stories within the library’s primary and secondary resources, including maps, drawings, rare books, and archival collections.

Responsibilities

• Organize and promote materials in the Watkinson Library’s Caribbean and Latin American collections.
• Develop creative projects to make these resources more accessible, such as:
  • Processing archival collections.
  • Creating library study guides for research assistance.
  • Collecting metadata for the Trinity in Trinidad video archive.
  • Conducting oral history interviews with the Latino/a/x community in Hartford.
  • Designing other projects that highlight and expand access to these resources.
• Submit a brief weekly progress report and reflective experience.
• Present your project at an event at the end of the award term.

Qualifications

• Reading proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or another language relevant to Caribbean and Latin American history and culture is preferred.
• Ability to work independently, as supported by a letter of recommendation from a Trinity faculty or staff member.

Benefits

Watkinson/CCS Fellows will receive a stipend of $1,000 per academic semester.

  • The type of project you plan to conduct.
  • The expected final product within a semester.
  • How you will share the results with the Trinity campus and beyond.
• A letter of recommendation from a Trinity faculty or staff member.
