About the role

The U.S. National Archives seeks a dedicated individual to join its team as a Citizen Archivist. This position involves processing and cataloging historical records, engaging with the public through social media and online platforms, and contributing to educational initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Process and catalog historical records
  • Engage with the public on social media and online forums
  • Contribute to educational initiatives and outreach programs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the accessibility and usability of archival materials

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Library Science, or related field
  • Experience with digital archiving and social media engagement
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of archival principles and best practices
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic understanding of web development and user interface design

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

$45,000 - $50,000 annually

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
