Water/Wastewater Senior Project Engineer - Boise, ID

About the role

This role supports and leads the delivery of complex municipal (special purpose district and/or city) water and wastewater projects. It is suited for an experienced engineer who can independently manage major design tasks, contribute to project delivery, and play a key role in mentoring staff and supporting client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
  • Lead planning and design for municipal water and wastewater systems, including conveyance and pumping systems, storage and distribution systems, collection systems, and treatment facilities
  • Manage complex design tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
  • Prepare and oversee engineering deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and design standards
  • Serve as Engineer of Record or technical lead on projects
• Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff
  • Review work for technical accuracy and quality
  • Support team development and contribute to a collaborative environment
• Client Engagement & Business Development
  • Build and maintain relationships with municipal (special purpose district and/or city) clients and regulatory agencies
  • Support proposal development, interviews, and pursuit strategies
  • Participate in professional organizations and industry engagement

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); PE license required or ability to obtain
• 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a focus on water and wastewater systems
• Strong experience in municipal (city and/or special purpose district) water/wastewater system design
• Proven ability to lead design efforts and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
• Experience managing or supporting projects through all phases of delivery
• Familiarity with public agency processes, permitting requirements, and regulatory coordination
• Proficiency with standard engineering tools (e.g., hydraulic modeling, drafting/design software, Bluebeam, spreadsheets)
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff

Pay

Potential salary range: $130,000/annually – $180,000/annually. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
