Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Lead the design for multiple concurrent projects and tasks for your discipline.
- Attend client meetings or interviews in support of project manager.
- Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
- Design projects using advanced discipline knowledge, client specifications and guidelines using design software and drawing tools.
- Develop solutions to complex problems and share best practices/lessons learned on a wide scale (company, client, or industry).
- Define parameters, review, and present alternative studies based on experience and advanced engineering knowledge.
- Prepare or lead the preparation of engineering documents, technical reports, memos, etc.
- Evaluate and collaborate on discipline’s workflow and standard operating procedures to increase efficiency.
- Perform and check design computations.
- Quality review of project design in accordance with the Project Management Plan.
- Provide cross-disciplinary and constructability reviews on complex projects.
- Provide input to project manager and section head with scope development, work hours for tasks, and project schedule creation for discipline.
- Manage and lead work to meet provided project schedule and budget relevant to discipline.
- Cookordination and collaboration with team members and other disciplines to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality.
- Delegate project work to design engineers, coordinate project requirements, and perform quality reviews.
- Mentor and coach on technical knowledge to advance their skill development and advise on project design.
- Actively participate and contribute (presenting, publishing papers, etc.) in industry organizations, publications, and/or conversations.
- Assist Project Manager with consultative services to the client by understanding client requirements, recommendations, and solutions to enhance client experience.
Required Skills
- Proficient in related design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Written and communication skills
- Familiarity of a variety of engineering disciplines
Required Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- 10+ years’ experience in water/wastewater design
Qualifications Preferred
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
Working Conditions
- Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time.
- Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking.
- Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
- Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
