Role Responsibilities
- Support assigned water and wastewater clients while upholding public health, safety, ethical standards, and GMC Core Values
- Affiliate in developing, reviewing, and refining project scopes in coordination with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Apply working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS to support planning, design, and documentation efforts
- Provide technical design and engineering support for water and wastewater conveyance, treatment, and utility infrastructure projects
- Collaborate across disciplines and offices on the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater systems
- Cook closely with engineers, surveyors, field personnel, inspectors, contractors, and construction teams to ensure project alignment
- Guide, coordinate, and mentor junior staff, technicians, designers, and administrative personnel as appropriate
- Perform advanced drafting, modeling, and technical support tasks to meet project requirements
- Respond to inquiries from contractors, utility staff, and regulatory agencies with clear, timely, and professional communication
- Prepare and deliver technical reports, memoranda, plans, and presentations
- Support the development and continuous improvement of technical standards, design guidelines, and operational procedures
- Represent the firm professionally with clients, stakeholders, and community partners
- Participate in professional development, continuing education, and industry organizations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with municipal water and/or wastewater projects
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in water and wastewater engineering
- Experience with planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure, including:
- Water mains and booster pump stations
- Sewer mains, sewer lift stations, and force mains
- Water and wastewater treatment plants
- Hydraulic modeling and master planning
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical judgment
- Effective communication skills, including written reports, technical memoranda, and presentations
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
