About the role

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is seeking a motivated Project Manager with 5+ years of experience to join our Charlotte, NC or Greenville, SC office. The successful candidate will support a dynamic water and wastewater engineering team and contribute to the planning, design, and permitting of municipal water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support assigned water and wastewater clients while upholding public health, safety, ethical standards, and GMC Core Values
  • Affiliate in developing, reviewing, and refining project scopes in coordination with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies
  • Apply working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS to support planning, design, and documentation efforts
  • Provide technical design and engineering support for water and wastewater conveyance, treatment, and utility infrastructure projects
  • Collaborate across disciplines and offices on the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater systems
  • Cook closely with engineers, surveyors, field personnel, inspectors, contractors, and construction teams to ensure project alignment
  • Guide, coordinate, and mentor junior staff, technicians, designers, and administrative personnel as appropriate
  • Perform advanced drafting, modeling, and technical support tasks to meet project requirements
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, memoranda, plans, and presentations
  • Respond to inquiries from contractors, utility staff, and regulatory agencies with clear, timely, and professional communication
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of technical standards, design guidelines, and operational procedures
  • Represent the firm professionally with clients, stakeholders, and community partners
  • Participate in professional development, continuing education, and industry organizations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or South Carolina
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with municipal water and/or wastewater projects
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in water and wastewater engineering
  • Experience with planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure, including:
    • Water mains and booster pump stations
    • Sewer mains, sewer lift stations, and force mains
    • Water and wastewater treatment plants
    • Hydraulic modeling and master planning
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical judgment
  • Effective communication skills, including written reports, technical memoranda, and presentations
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in water and wastewater engineering
