About the role
AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented Project Engineer to support our Water, Wastewater, and Water Resources practice based in the Greater Philadelphia Area (Philadelphia, PA, Conshohocken, PA and/or Newark, DE).
Responsibilities
- Provides technical support for a variety of utility design related projects, including treatment plants, pump/booster stations, water line and collection line design, rehabilitation, master planning, and construction administration.
- Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.
- Work under supervision of a senior project manager in the water/wastewater/water resources practice or senior level team members.
- Utilize basic engineering principles, judgement, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems.
- Work on routine or detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and engineering analyses.
- Perform work with little supervision.
- Propose approaches to solve new problems.
- Identify discrepancies in outcomes, results, and analysis of engineering tasks.
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
- Provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
- Record field data using tablets and GPS units.
- Record and interpret data, conduct analyses, prepare reports, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Perform data gathering site visits, field measurements, mapping, and observations during construction.
- Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
- Software use includes, but is not limited to: AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Bentley and/or hydraulic modeling packages.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in planning, modeling, and/or design of water, wastewater, and stormwater utility projects.
- Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain PE licensure within one (1) year of employment.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review.
