Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform daily walk throughs and operational maintenance of water and wastewater plants
- Maintain service pumps, motors, valves, generators; recognize and report equipment failures
- Monitor operation of pump and plant equipment; troubleshoot malfunctions
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs of equipment and infrastructure
- Monitor plant performance and SCADA computer in accordance with codes, regulations, and requirements
- Respond to plant alarms; troubleshoot and take corrective actions
- Perform facility grounds maintenance, including cleaning equipment and tanks and janitorial duties
- Fill in for lab technicians as needed; perform sampling collection, instrument calibration and reporting
- Collect and process payments from septage and RV haulers
- Order plant-related equipment and chemicals
- Utilize asset management software; perform data entry
- Perform Fats, Oil, Grease (FOG) interceptor inspections and enforce compliance with the municipal code
- Train other staff members on plant operations and maintenance; maintain SOP manuals
- Drive biosolids truck and trailer to the composting site; dispose of biosolids and track application of biosolids
- Maintain biosolids logs; maintain reporting compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and procedures
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts on paved and/or uneven terrain; plow snow
- Perform pre and post driving inspections
- Schedule major/annual maintenance, perform routine maintenance and monitor the department’s fleet records and associated fleet safety program
- Recognize and report unsafe conditions; work safely to prevent accidents
- Comply with all safety manuals, procedures, and trainings
- Perform pre and post trip inspections and basic maintenance checks on biosolids and plow vehicles
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Commercial Class A Driver’s License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement required or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in compliance with the Colorado Certified Water Professionals (CCWP) certification standards
- State of Colorado Class “C” Water and Wastewater certifications required
- First Aid and CPR certification required throughout employment
- Knowledge of: working knowledge of operations, methods, and procedures of a water and wastewater treatment plant; working knowledge of the machinery used for wastewater treatment and pumping stations; mechanical equipment and ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunction; basic machinery preventative maintenance and repair; basic knowledge of State and Federal rules governing wastewater discharges and worker safety; safe usage of chemicals used to treat water; FMCSA Post Accident Thresholds
- Skills in: learning and performing a wide range of assignments in the operation and maintenance of the Town’s water and wastewater system; working independently with little to no supervision; strong attention to detail; reading, writing, compiling, analyzing data, and reporting daily; monitoring control panels, gauges, and meters to ensure proper plant operation; using Microsoft products; working well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; using hand, precision, and power tools; safe driving; problem solving; utilization of different software and hardware
