Water Utility Technician - Water Treatment Plant

About the role

This position operates, maintains, inspects, installs, and repairs water treatment and waste water treatment facilities and associated collection and distribution equipment, systems, and components.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, inspect, install, and repair water treatment and waste water treatment facilities and associated equipment.
• Maintain and operate water and wastewater treatment plants.
• Inspect and test equipment to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Install and repair water and wastewater treatment plant equipment and systems.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep equipment in good working order.
• Handle emergency situations as they arise, ensuring the safety of employees and the public.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Experience in water and wastewater treatment operations.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

• Technical knowledge of water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Hands-on experience with water and wastewater treatment equipment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

• Rotating schedule providing experience in both Maintenance and Operations.
• Maintenance Rotation: 5 weeks on a daytime schedule, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm.
• Operations Rotation: Rotating shifts 1 week: 7am - 3pm, 1 week: 3pm-11pm, 1 week: 11pm-7am.
• Some weekend work is required, with weekend shifts being 12 hours on Saturday and Sunday, with two 8-hour shifts during the week.

Pay

The starting hourly rate is $24.07. After hire, pay increases are dependent on length of service, advancement in the position, and other contractual factors.
