Water Treatment Plant Operator

About the role

Operate, inspect, maintain and perform various operational repairs on a sewage treatment plant and various auxiliary equipment.

Performs all preventative maintenance inspections on all components of the base system on a scheduled basis.

Makes emergency and/or scheduled overhauls of equipment with complex interrelationships among components, such as pumps, valves, digester mechanisms, universal joints, floats, lift pumps, etc.

Operates water purification plant.

Conducts periodic routine chlorimetric and laboratory tests of raw and treated water.

Performs major and minor repair and maintenance of water works system.

Maintains necessary preventative maintenance and related records for all equipment serviced; requisitions parts and supplies as required.

Requirements

Individuals who were born male after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.

Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served. Refer to the Next Steps section for more information.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Skills

The following Selective Placement Factor (SPF) requirement is being used to determine whether an applicant fully qualifies for this position. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires the incumbent is required to have Current Class B Public Water System Operator license and Current Class C Wastewater Treatment Operator license for the state of Texas. Evidence of this experience must be documented in your resume. Applicants who fail to meet this requirement and/or address the SPF may lose further consideration.
