Job Duties
- Effectively plans, supervises, and teaches swim lessons to patrons
- Enforces all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations
- Completes records and reports as required by the American Red Cross
- Completes additional duties as assigned by supervisor
- Recognizes and responds effectively in emergencies
- Schedules and conducts time keeping
Required Certifications
- Certification as a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) from the American Red Cross
- Three years of competitive swimming experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills
- Thorough knowledge and application of teaching swimming and water safety
- Excellent customer service / public relations skills
- Excellent decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills
Education and Work Experience
- Must be at least 15 years of age and enrolled in High School
- Less than 1 year of experience teaching swim lessons OR of competitive swimming experience
