Water Resources Engineering Intern
Dewberry is currently seeking a Water Resources Engineering Intern in our Fairfax, VA office for Summer 2027. About the role
During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put classroom knowledge into action. Interns are assigned meaningful work similar to what they would engage with as a full-time employee and participate in a series of workshops and events, including:
- Networking opportunities to meet other interns, staff, and senior leaders across the business.
- Learning about our services, projects, and clients.
- Professional development workshops, including a career planning workshop and a DiSC assessment to learn more about themselves and how to work effectively with others.
- A summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact our future strategy.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of water quality modeling, wastewater modeling, and water quality regulatory issues.
- Knowledge of floodplain delineation, storm water management, culvert and bridge hydraulics, and drainage design.
- Previous internship experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office software.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

Pay
$18.75/hour - $29.75/hour. Depending upon other factors such as skills, experience, location, and market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
