Water Resources Engineer-in-Training (Summer 2027)

About the role

KCI is looking for a motivated Water Resources Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our team in summer 2027. The ideal candidate for this role has experience with both stormwater modeling and design/implementation of drainage and conveyance infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Complete flood studies and no-rise analyses
  • Perform bridge hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Conduct stormwater master planning
  • Perform municipal and DOT drainage/culvert analysis and design
  • Conduct 2D hydraulic analyses
  • Complete hydrologic and hydraulic computations, reports, and modeling for drainage improvements, watershed evaluations, bridge and culvert replacements, and floodplain modeling
  • Design and prepare construction drawings for various water resources projects
  • Assist in the development of multiple projects and deliverables, including plans, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates, within schedule and budget
  • Perform conventional types of plans, background data, field investigations, surveys, and field equipment tasks

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • General knowledge of required design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good communication and technical writing skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to maintain required certifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internships or work experience in the engineering field
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
