About the role
KCI is looking for a motivated Water Resources Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our team in summer 2027. The ideal candidate for this role has experience with both stormwater modeling and design/implementation of drainage and conveyance infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Complete flood studies and no-rise analyses
- Perform bridge hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
- Conduct stormwater master planning
- Perform municipal and DOT drainage/culvert analysis and design
- Execute 2D hydraulic analyses
- Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic computations, reports, and modeling for drainage improvements, watershed evaluations, bridge and culvert replacements, and floodplain modeling
- Design and prepare construction drawings for various water resources projects
- Assist in developing plans, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates within schedule and budget
- Perform field investigations, surveys, and use field equipment
- Work under the supervision of a project engineer and/or project manager
Requirements
- 0–2 years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- General knowledge of design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good communication and technical writing skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to maintain required certifications
- Pre-employment drug screening and background check
Qualifications
- Previous internships or work experience in the engineering field
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
- Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, MicroStation, Geopak Drainage, and HEC-RAS (preferred)
- Base understanding of water resources and civil engineering principles
