About the role

Acts on behalf of the deputy manager in the case of deputy manger's absence. Sets policies, strategic direction and leadership for the Marketing, Guest Services and Ambassador programs at DIA. Develops international tourism development plans in support of air service development. Oversees international tourism marketing efforts including developing strategic media purchases and developing strategic public relations activities in notional and international trade and consumer press. Gives formal presentations to external audiences such as tourism groups, convention centers, travel agents, visitor's bureaus, civic clubs and other organizations to build awareness of DIA. Acts as spokesperson for the unit to advance the primary vision, mission and goals of the Hospitality and Tourism unit. Represents DIA at state, national and international trade shows. Works with local and state tourism and hospitality organizations (CVBs, hotels, etc.) to exchange consistent, timely and accurate information in order to help a positive travel experience to the DIA passengers. Negotiates, motivates and finds solutions to build consensus between outside stakeholders such as the TSA, FAA and airlines to improve overall processes and streamline commutation to improve the traveling public's experience at DIA. Creates, discovers, and/or incorporates best practices. Promotes employee retention by analyzing, understanding and supporting its drivers. Manages and directs subordinate staff; sets priorities; provides general guidance and instruction on expected outcomes; delegates and reviews work.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Political Science, Management or related field, plus three years of management level work in an administrative or operating capacity in a Marketing, Public Relations, Government Affairs organization of which one year must have included budget and fiscal oversight responsibilities and one year of establishing objectives and strategies for fleet maintenance operational areas programs and/or projects.
  • Two years of professional (exempt) level supervisory experience in an administrative or operating capacity in a marketing, public relations, or government affairs organization of which one year must have included budget and fiscal oversight responsibilities and one year of establishing objectives and strategies for hospitality and tourism operational areas programs and/or projects will substitute for one year of college. In other words eleven years of this level experience will substitute for the degree requirement.
