About the role

Reads water meters at residential and business locations. Completes daily work orders for connections and disconnections. Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains water meters to ensure functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts meter readings, manually and/or with an integrated register.
  • Maintains water meter operations by diagnosing and repairing as needed.
  • Fulfills work orders, including connections and disconnections of service.
  • Drives a City vehicle for City business use.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of E-Coder R900i.
  • Knowledge of water meter operation.

Work Environment

Position will have the following exposures: office or similar indoor environment, relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards, occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards, and frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk.

Physical effort requirements include exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Work environment locations include office or similar indoor environment, confined space, vehicles, warehouse environment, outdoor environment, street environment, and construction site. Position will require the employee to be exposed to the following environmental elements: extreme cold, individuals with known violent backgrounds, communicable diseases, loud noises, individuals who are hostile or irate, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals or substances.

Qualifications

At least three (3) months of general experience. Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
