Water Jet Operator - 2nd Shift
Essential Functions
- Obtain and apply information from Work Instruction File/Travelers.
- Read and understand blueprints.
- Set up and operate water jet (both media and water only machines).
- Perform necessary program adjustments to produce good parts.
- Make machine changes or adjustments, as required.
- Inspect completed product to the blueprint.
- Complete necessary documentation (Traveler, IP sheet, etc.).
- Understand and follow policy procedures.
- Label and identify products in and out of cell.
- May operate vision system for silicone verification.
- Perform and document any necessary preventative maintenance functions.
Occasional Duties
- Assist in other areas, as needed.
- Once competent, may be required to train others in the cell.
Lead Responsibilities
- Follow the production schedule to drive schedule completion and maximize efficiencies.
- Know which team member will be running which parts/machines or equipment during their shift.
- Make sure team members are familiar with any problem areas.
- Inspect parts and paperwork in a timely manner before moving order.
- Visual inspection of some parts in the order. Correct part counts. Paperwork completed correctly.
- Identify non-conforming parts and initiate QHF process, if required.
- Update cell boards/metrics and present cell data during management walks, as required.
- Absorb and lead daily meeting covering Safety, Quality or shift issues.
- Keep production/machines running.
- Assist/lead with reducing machine wait time:
- For machine set ups.
- When a machine goes down to get it back up and running as soon as possible.
- For team members when they have production issues/problems.
- Provide on-the-job training, knowing the skills of team members and provide training to enhance their skills and ensure documentation is completed.
- Process improvements/6S.
- Give feedback to programmers on program changes, if applicable.
- Identify process improvements and insure they are implemented with communication to the Cell Leader, ME, QE or Programmer.
- Perform 6S audits, work with 6S team.
- Communicate with other set-up employees.
- Identify any items needed for production and ensure they are available. For example, gages, fixtures, and special tooling.
- Provide input regarding annual reviews and promotions of team members to Cell Lead and Production Manager.
- Set the example for team members to follow in all areas of personal performance, behavior and adherence to policies and procedures.
