Water Distribution Operator Entry-Level or Level II

About the role

The Water Distribution Operator is responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the city’s water distribution system. This includes monitoring water pressure and flow rates, inspecting equipment, and performing routine maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust water pressure and flow rates to ensure system efficiency and safety.
• Inspect and maintain water treatment facilities and distribution systems.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning filters and checking valves.
• Respond to emergencies and perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
• Knowledge of water treatment processes and distribution systems.
• Physical ability to operate heavy machinery and perform manual labor.

Qualifications

• Experience in water treatment or distribution systems preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $30,000 - $35,000 per year.

Schedule

Shifts are typically Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with some weekend and evening work required.
