Water Distribution Apprentice, Maintenance Worker, Operator I, or Operator II

About the role

The City of Port Townsend is recruiting to fill one opening in the Water Distribution division of our Public Works Department. The vacancy will be filled at either the Maintenance Worker Apprentice, Maintenance Worker, Operator I, or Operator II level depending on qualifications and transferable skills. Under general supervision performs a variety of maintenance and repair work to the water distribution systems. Responsibilities

• Participates as a member of the Public Works team to maintain of the City's water distribution system including pumps, pipes, hydrant, meters, reservoirs, and valves
• Performs customer service for meter reading, leak repair, and installation of taps and meters
• Performs small construction projects including pipe installation and replacement
• Troubleshoots water system problems and makes repairs
