About the role

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Water Conveyance Engineer to join our Tampa, Florida office. This role presents an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in Water & Wastewater Infrastructure projects, including conveyance, utilities, pump/lift stations, treatment, and master planning. Florida's rapid population growth is driving some of the nation’s largest and most complex projects, offering unmatched technical challenges such as advanced reuse, nutrient removal, coastal resiliency, and regulatory complexity. Florida is a strategic priority for our firm, and this role interfaces directly with division, practice, and national technical leadership, providing high career visibility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality client services, clarity on work products, and delivery of high-quality services within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Support business development with client relationship management, opportunity development, and proposal preparation.
  • Coordinate assigned work to ensure continuity, consistency, and quality.
  • Direct and supervise complex studies and investigations, defining tasks for others and providing supervision, review, and approval.
  • Collect, correlate, and prepare recommendations and conclusions for final reports.
  • Determine and schedule required project resources, evaluating project decisions for objectivity, design soundness, and impact on schedule and budget.
  • Remain current on regulations and technological advancements.
  • Serve as Project Manager and sealing Professional Engineer for projects requiring intergroup skills and consultants.
  • Participate in the administration, interpretation, and implementation of contracts.

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ experience in water & wastewater engineering with project management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a project team while ensuring excellent quality of work.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
