About the role

This individual will pursue new projects, lead teams of junior engineers, and maintain/grow client relationships. The role involves providing professional services for wastewater engineering projects, including design, plans, specifications, reports, project budgets, scope of work, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, and coordination of sub-consultants and contractors. You will work within multi-discipline projects, identify and manage project opportunities, ensure quality control, and maintain client relationships. Additionally, you will guide junior engineers, gather critical data for project financing, and facilitate internal and external meetings.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional services for wastewater engineering projects, including design, plans, specifications, reports, project budgets, scope of work, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, and coordination of sub-consultants and contractors
• Design and construction of wastewater collection systems and wastewater treatment facilities
• Work within multi-discipline projects that include civil, electrical, and architectural aspects
• Identify, evaluate, pursue, and manage project opportunities
• Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
• Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments and maintain quality client relationships and communication
• Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings
• Provide guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and other project team members
• Gather critical data to assist clients with project financing and funding development

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (ideal) or ability to obtain within 3 months
• 6+ years of experience in municipal civil engineering with a strong interest in the wastewater market sector
• Ability to travel as required for business development and project/client responsibilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Ability to effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Stellar reputation for integrity, fairness, reliability, good judgment, and aptitude among peers, management, and staff
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (e.g., criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
• Design work and knowledge with wastewater treatment and collection systems, utility planning, and other municipal vertical and horizontal infrastructure
• Experience leading both internal initiatives and external projects
• Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously

Physical Qualifications

• Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain
• Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
• Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
• Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 20 pounds, rarely up to 50 pounds)
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of errors or defects
• May require wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including flame-resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
• May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
• May require travel to off-site locations, including occasional overnight stays out of town
