Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate the Wastewater Facility, Potable Wells, Irrigation, and Storm Water System within local, state, and federal regulations.
- Attain a State Wastewater Class 5-I License as required by MDE.
- Perform necessary calculations for process control, chemical feed, and nutrient loadings.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on assigned wastewater equipment.
- Perform laboratory analysis on wastewater samples and adjust plant and chemical flow rates as required to ensure water quality compliance.
- Complete and maintain records related to wastewater operations.
- Collect NPDES samples.
- Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly emissions observations are completed.
- Complete weekly Environmental Garage inventory and housekeeping inspections.
- Complete monthly spill kit inspections.
- Perform all work within safety guidelines established by local, state, and federal agencies as well as company policies.
- Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Ability to attain a State 5-I (Industrial) Wastewater License.
- Temporary licenses will be attained within the first 90 days of employment, and the requirements of the temporary license are - 45 Class hours and sit in for State Testing within 3 years of Temporary License issuance.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Advanced technical training.
- State wastewater license.
- Smoke School certification.
- 2–5 years of experience in a mechanical, production, or related field.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing vertical heights (0–50').'
- Ability to carry tools and equipment (0–50 pounds).
- Exposure to all weather conditions, extreme temperatures (0–100°F), humidity (0–100%), noise (50db–100db), and chemicals (MSDS sheets available).
- Ability to wear protective equipment, including a self-contained breathing apparatus.
