Wastewater Operator

About the role

The Wastewater Operator position at Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, requires identifying and locating parts/part numbers from machinery or equipment manuals or parts catalogs. Basic welding skills (primarily TIG; some MIG and Stick) are necessary. The role involves performing routine preventative maintenance, assembling, installing, or repairing plumbing and equipment, completing necessary paperwork, and notifying supervisors of malfunctions or repairs.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from machinery or equipment manuals or parts catalogs.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as greasing bearings, lubricating, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, etc.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing and equipment to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
• Complete necessary paperwork like PM sheets, work orders, etc.
• Notify lead or supervisor of any malfunctions or repairs needed.
• Identify and troubleshoot centrifugal (chopper) and positive displacement pumps.
• Understand and apply wastewater treatment, sampling, and testing procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures, including warm, hot, humid, cold, wet, or with slippery surfaces, at varied heights, and around moving equipment and parts with PPE.
• Must be able to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must be able to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.
• Start times and hours vary based on production needs.
• Must be able to successfully complete training: Safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Food defense.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior quality assurance experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility.
• Prior production experience.
• Work history in the last 12 months.
