Wastewater Manager
Definition
The Wastewater Manager oversees the management, supervision, and coordination of the City's wastewater collection systems planning and operation functions. This leadership role ensures assets are effectively developed, funded, maintained, operated, protected, replaced, and monitored to achieve service level objectives. The position provides strategic guidance in long-range capital and operational planning, budgeting and financial policies, offers technical expertise, and ensures the implementation of compliant and fiscally responsible programs and procedures that protect public health.

This position requires a solid understanding of wastewater system operations, asset management principles, and best management practices, along with the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of customers including contractors, inspectors, regulatory agencies, internal departments, and the public. The ideal candidate brings experience supervising staff, overseeing complex utility programs, and supporting long-range planning to ensure reliable and environmentally responsible wastewater services.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the management, supervision, and coordination of the City's wastewater collection systems planning and operation functions.
- Ensure assets are effectively developed, funded, maintained, operated, protected, replaced, and monitored to achieve service level objectives.
- Provide strategic guidance in long-range capital and operational planning, budgeting and financial policies.
- Offer technical expertise and ensure the implementation of compliant and fiscally responsible programs and procedures that protect public health.
- Communicate effectively with a variety of customers including contractors, inspectors, regulatory agencies, internal departments, and the public.
- Supervise staff and oversee complex utility programs.
- Support long-range planning to ensure reliable and environmentally responsible wastewater services.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- An APWA accreditation preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in wastewater collection systems management.
- Experience supervising staff and managing complex utility programs.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of asset management principles, best management practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to develop and implement long-range plans and budgets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.

Pay
Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
