Waste Stream Coordinator Port Hueneme California (2026)

About the role
Position requires constant physical activity, including bending, consistently lifting and carrying 50–70 lbs, reaching, and gripping. Approximately 90% of tasking is outdoors in a physically challenging and atypical work environment. The role demands self-motivation, flexibility, and a positive attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced setting while working within a team of diverse personalities.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload various streams of waste for shipment to waste vendors into long-haul trucks, flatbeds, and roll-off containers
- Track movement of USAP shipping containers from staging yard
- Assist with auction duties if applicable
- Operate warehouse forklift, power tools, hand tools, and company vehicles
- Perform truck weigh station duties as applicable
- Complete light administrative tasks such as timecards and expense reports
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and tasking responsibilities of the Waste department
- Support Operations Division metrics and ASC metrics, whether directly or indirectly impacted by this position’s work activities
- Comply with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals; provide necessary documentation
- Work to achieve ASC goals and contractual commitments
- Maintain a safe workplace, ensuring safety is the highest priority
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
- Previous Antarctic deployment
- Equipment operating experience
- Familiarity with power tools and machinery
- Able to stand for up to 8 hours daily
- Must be able to lift the safety regulation maximum and perform functions requiring repetitive motion
- Able to deploy to Port Hueneme, CA for the length of the contract
- High school education or GED
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain military base access
- US citizenship or permanent residency
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous USAP Waste Management experience
Background Check
A prerequisite of employment is successfully gaining a favorable Elevated Background Investigation (EBI) result prior to deployment. Candidates will be required to complete online forms, written forms, fingerprint cards, and provide additional details as requested by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Personnel Security office.
