About the role
As a Wash Handler at Masonicare Health Center, you will collect soiled laundry, sort and weigh it, then wash and dry it according to established policies, procedures, and machine-operation instructions.
Responsibilities
- Receive or collect soiled laundry from various areas of the hospital.
- Sort laundry according to type and condition, weigh it, and record the weight.
- Wash and dry laundry, considering isolation, contamination, water levels, and temperature (up to 160 degrees).
- Inspect laundry at various stages of processing for cleanliness; advise assistants or recommend changes in washing and rinsing procedures to ensure a clean and sanitary wash.
- Maintain records of the total weight of wash processed daily for each hospital department for charging purposes.
- Observe operation of machines and make minor adjustments or report malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Assist department personnel in maintaining laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Check lint collector, clean or change bags, clean lint screen, drain, and clean tank as necessary.
- Attend meetings as required and participate in in-service education programs.
- Communicate effectively and tactfully with residents/patients, recognizing their age, needs, abilities, and physical condition.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- On-the-job training provided.
- Able to work in a team.
- Able to follow verbal work instructions.

Schedule
Day shift, 40 hours per week (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM).
