Warranty Quality Engineer - Engine Systems

Location: Headquarters & Technical Center (QEC) Auburn Hills, MI

About the role

The Control Tower and Field Quality Engineer (CTFQ Engineer) assists in the administration and coordination of multiple vehicle systems, including compiling project status reports, coordinating project schedules, managing project meetings, agendas, minutes, and correspondence. This role reports to a team lead or supervisor/manager and requires knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for automotive and powertrain development.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate cross-functional project meetings, compile project status reports, coordinate project schedules, agendas, minutes, and correspondence.
• Identify and analyze system requirements, define project scope, requirements, and deliverables involving multiple stakeholders.
• Lead the resolution of warranty-related issues, including problem-solving processes, proposed solutions, validation, and weekly progress tracking.
• Lead Triage for assigned engines, including warranty claims analysis, vehicle and component-level analysis and testing, and support Stellantis/Suppliers reviews at Quality Engineering Center and Manufacturing locations.
• Establish short- and long-term containment actions for warranty issues.
• Travel to engine/vehicle plants and supplier locations locally, domestically, and occasionally internationally to investigate parts, vehicles, and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in Product Engineering or Product Development of Internal Combustion Engines.
• 2+ years of experience in testing/validation/test method development, including fixture design, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
• Well-rounded automotive knowledge and ability to work in a team-oriented environment, including managing a unionized workforce.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, specifically MS Excel and Project.
• Working knowledge of Teamcenter.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and understanding of full detail on drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's in Engineering or Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering.
• Shainin RedX Black Belt.
• Green Belt / Kepner Tregoe.
• Design for Six Sigma.
• Project Management.
• Engine systems experience.
