Quality Engineer
About the role
Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer for our Claremont, Oklahoma facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of products through developing and implementing quality control processes, performing inspections, conducting audits, and collaborating with production teams to resolve quality issues.
This position involves safety-sensitive job duties and will be considered a safety-sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act (“The Unity Bill”).
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and standards for manufacturing processes.
- Perform regular inspections and audits of materials, processes, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Identify, document, and report quality issues or non-conformities, and work with production teams to resolve them.
- Analyze quality data (e.g., defects, customer complaints, production errors) to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., production, engineering, and supply chain) to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for product defects or process inefficiencies.
- Develop and maintain documentation for quality control processes, inspections, and testing.
- Conduct training for production staff on quality standards, best practices, and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards (e.g., ISO, Six Sigma), and customer requirements.
- Support product development by providing quality input during design and prototyping stages.
- Participate in customer audits and address quality-related concerns or inquiries.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in quality engineering or quality control within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma) and industry standards.
- Experience with quality tools such as root cause analysis, failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and statistical process control (SPC).
- Familiarity with product testing, inspection techniques, and material specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software/systems.
- Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) is a plus.
Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment. When in the manufacturing facility, all employees are required to wear personal protective equipment including hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA-compliant safety boots/shoes.
Physical Demands
- Remain stationary for long periods while operating a computer and other office machinery.
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets and operate office machinery.
- Lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally visit the shop, which is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
