The Quality Engineer ensures that products, processes, and systems meet defined standards of quality, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes, procedures, and standards.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and FMEA.
- Perform process capability studies, statistical analysis, and data driven decision making to improve product quality.
- Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability and quality are built into new products (PFMEA, control plans).
- Conduct internal and supplier audits to ensure compliance with AS9100 or other relevant standards.
- Develop inspection criteria, test methods, and quality documentation.
- Support production teams with troubleshooting, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure ERP system is meeting all requirements and work with customers and sales groups on concession requests.
- Monitor KPIs such as defect rates, yield, scrap, and customer complaints; drive improvement plans.
- Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve incoming material quality.
- Champion a culture of quality across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field).
- 2–5+ years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (SPC, FMEA, MSA, control plans, Lean/Six Sigma).
- Experience with AS9100 or other quality management systems.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, JMP, or similar).
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and cross functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawings.
- Experience with supplier quality management.
- Hands on experience in a manufacturing environment.
