About the Role
Under the general supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Supply Technician is responsible for properly storing, stocking, and distributing medical supplies, restocking par locations on patient care floors, delivering supplies to clinics and departments, and pulling and staging supplies for off-campus clinics and departments.
Responsibilities
- Maintains utmost level of confidentiality and adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates ethical business practices and personal actions that align with corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
- Performs duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager, or Director.
- Reports safety concerns regarding the warehouse or supplies.
- Uses handheld scanning units for supply replenishment and is fully trained on the MMIS system, including searching inventory, performing quick issues, and processing returns/credits.
- Replenishes assigned supply areas according to schedule and completes transactions in the MMIS system.
- Recommends adjustments to supply max/min (par) levels based on usage and feedback from department personnel.
- Processes daily supply requisitions, picks, pulls, and delivers supplies to requesting departments.
- Answers phone calls promptly and ensures timely customer service.
- Puts away freight, verifies packing slips, and reports discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Operates a pallet jack and bailer, and maintains a clean work area.
- Communicates low stock or stock-out situations to the supervisor and/or buyer.
- Monitors and rotates stock to prevent obsolescence and reduce spoilage.
- Performs periodic cycle supply counts and participates in annual physical inventory.
- Follows infection control procedures for storing, delivering, and handling equipment and supplies.
- Maintains clean, neat, and orderly supply rooms and storerooms.
- Checks for expired or soon-to-expire supplies in assigned sections.
- Checks emails at least twice daily (morning and afternoon).
- Coordinates schedules for moving items from the warehouse to other locations, ensuring prompt and safe delivery.
- Works with inventory “owners” to prevent unused items from sitting idle.
- Supports the Finance Department with equipment inventory of warehouse-stored items.
- Ensures timely and cooperative inter/intra-departmental communication, including with external customers and partners.
- Responds promptly to emergency requests for essential supplies or equipment.
- Handles after-hours calls and requests.
- Participates in group meetings, special projects, and safety calls as needed.
- Identifies and reports warehouse safety hazards or concerns involving fleet vehicles, equipment, inventory, or the facility.
- Operates handheld scanning devices for inventory replenishment and tracking.
- Processes supply requests using designated inventory management software.
- Provides courteous and efficient customer service via telephone.
- Safely operates pallet jacks, bailers, and other warehouse equipment.
- Breaks down and disposes of cardboard boxes and packaging materials to maintain a clean work area.
- Monitors inventory levels and product conditions to minimize waste and prevent spoilage.
- Follows infection prevention and control procedures for medical supplies and equipment.
- Reports facility maintenance issues and warehouse deficiencies (e.g., leaks, damaged flooring).
- Operates a box truck as needed and performs routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks.
- May work at the general supply warehouse or deliver supplies to outlying facilities.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required; additional certification from a college or technical school preferred.
- Minimum six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Report Writing, and Outlook/Teams.
- Active unrestricted Driver’s License.
